I hate RAV's. I do not like the way the spare wheel is attached to them and with all their recalls, their resale value has plunged down.
I would rather go with CRV or Murano/ Rogue. Just a thought.

Rav is smaller than most crossovers. I wouldn't buy it either.

i recently baught 2010 rav. I love it so far. It is lot bigger inside and also looks more SUV like, compared to cr-v which to me looks like a cheeseburger. Milage is also descent.

i totally agree with bhikari....first i thought of buying crv but didnt like the model at all and murrano also looks like crv...
@bhikari : how much did you pay for it??...and can you share your experience with it

looser, i personaly got rav4 because to me it looked better than crv. had better expereinces with toyota than honda. i previously had civic and gave me lots of problems. It wasnt that old either, i bought it like new still problems. However with toyota no such problems. I think toyota drives more nicer too than honda. About recalls, its just a stupid floormat, but a damn tape on the carpet or something so it dont slide. They have fixed it in all the newer models anyways. I think people are just dumb and they need a sacrificial goat for american automakers to climb back in recession. On the brightside, because of all this toyota have very good deals on financing. I got 0% apr and 2 year maintainance plan and 1000 doller recent graduate discount etc.. They also added the body side moldings, tint on mine.
rav4 i think also has bigger room compared to crv and looks more like suv. Highlander is only a tad bigger in terms of size. Also i heard crv doesnt have much power where has 4 cylinder rav4 should be more than enough for daily use. I also personally like wheel on the back. Thats not the spare wheel, but a FULL SIZE REGULAR wheel and i think it looks better on the vehicle, gives it a distinct style.
Only thing about rav4 is interior quality of plastics. But now when i think of it, it looks LOT CLEANER than CRV. My Old civic's dashboard and new CRV dashboard was more sci-fi look, suits better for teenagers. I think CRV kinda looks feminine too, I like cars with boxy shape. I personally like rav4 interior, maybe they could have used better materials but it is fine with me. Also I hate how in CRV, they use ugly looking plastics outside on doors. It just looks so cheap. The back taillights looks like it came off Maruti van and the front nose looks like it is squished. Go for Rav4 man, I think it is better overall choice. If you dont mind paying little extra, get a v6. It has same milage as crv 4 cylinder.

RAV 4 is not a bad crossover but there are better ones. I have been riding one for two years plus now. It just troubled me once. My engine light came in and it took a month for a Toyota workshop to fix it even though it was just a misfire code. The worst part of Toyota at this time is its resale value. My car costs less than that I owe to the bank right now. CRV is a good substitute but I think CRV is smaller than RAV4. I don't know about the mileage difference though. If you are looking for a crossover the best choice I think is Subaru Outback. It also depends upon where you live, do you need a 4 wheel drive or an all wheel drive? And if you are looking for dashing car then choosing a Ford is not a bad idea. The only thing with Ford is you should sell it or exchange for another within next two year, you cannot ride it to dust. Read more reviews from people who owned such cars. RAV4 has a forum and you can see what they say. The other is call Car Talk (NPR). They will give you good suggestions and you will be aired. All I know, you drive a car or SUV....RAV4? CRV...they are in between... If you want to ride, ride a horse (car) or elephant( SUV)....why bother riding a Donkey (RAV4)

@intellectual suicide : ya i need a 4 wheel drive.....thanks for your suggestions @sexy in sari : the place where i am moving now needs a lil bit powerful ride and i cant afford SUVs...and the best option for my wife and me is to get a compact SUVs so both of us can ride it @dimagkharab : thanks for the link bro...i am definitely gonna reconsider my decision now

toyota is just being proactive to make sure there is no complains in future. To me this is a good thing isnt it? I have not heard from anyone who has toyota complains

not trying to be an a*s here, but why do all nepali ride either honda or toyota? don't give me the precooked 'for reliability and quality' response.. there are plenty of other suv and crossovers. imo, all nepalis with hondas or toyotas are the extreme stereotypes and representatives of most nepalis in the US. sad unless you have a HUGE family, take a different route fellas.. like me.. mustang (adding a '67 camaro in few weeks) :)
