Actor Raj Kiran, best remembered for his roles in films like Arth and Karz, has been missing in action for over a decade now and was even rumoured to be dead. However, the actor has now been located at a mental asylum in USA and it was none other than Raj Kiran's Karz co-star Rishi Kapoor who came to know about his whereabouts.
After rumours of his death started coming, his friends and colleagues started to locate him. His Hip Hip Hurray co-star Deepti Naval posted on Raj Kiran's Facebook Fan page "Raj, where are you my friend? Please reach out - Deepti (Naval)".
Rishi Kapoor, who recently went to U.S.A, was successful in tracing the whereabouts of his Karz co-star. Rishi was shocked to know that Raj is living in a mental asylum in Atlanta and pays for his own treatment by working within the institution.
Raj's wife and son abandoned him sometime back and the rest of his family also didn't bother to take care of him and left him to fend for himself. After going through a series of domestic crisis, he went into depression. He was then admitted in a mental institution at Byculla, Mumbai and was later on taken to the US by his brothers.
Remembering Raj, filmmaker Subhash Ghai says, "I always feel sad about Raj Kiran. He was a thorough gentleman as a new comer in Karz. But I guess after Karz he got too much of media hype and didn't get the success he expected. It made him disturbed apart from his personal life problems. I don't know thereafter

Faisal Khan , a brother of aamir khan also become mentally ill after being unsuccessful after movie Mela.
The Mumbai police reportedly persuaded Faisal to get admitted to a hospital for psychological treatment in 2004. This was after his brother Aamir filed a petition to the police saying Faisal, who also is an actor, was sending threatening letters to him and other family members. Sources said neither Aamir nor any other family member could persuade Faisal to get admitted. Aamir then approached the Khar police station in the western suburb of Mumbai with the letters and sought help. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Khar, Amitabh Gupta said, "Aamir Khan used to receive some letters from a known person, which he forwarded to us."
On 14 October 2007 it was reported that he had gone missing for the last two days. The actor was undergoing treatment for schizophrenia. The court awarded custody of Faisal to his father Tahir.. His father died in February 2010 at the age of 79.

Parveen Babi also followed the same path
After rumours about Babi suffering from schizophrenia began making rounds, she sought mental solace through alternative contemporary spirituality. She followed "Osho" for a few years and later became involved with the teachings of U.G.Krishnamurti in New York. She returned to Mumbai in 1992 where she was unrecognizable as her former self after having put on a considerable amount of weight. She accused many foreign dignitaries including Bill Clinton and her former co-star, Amitabh Bachchan, of conspiring to kill her but her petition in court was dismissed for lack of evidence. In 2002, she again hit the headlines when she filed an affidavit in the special court hearing the 1993 serial bomb blasts case, claiming that she had gathered clinching evidence against actor Sanjay Dutt showing his involvement in the case, but she did not turn up in court after being summoned saying that she was afraid of being killed.
