I am an Australian RN with 2 years’ post graduation work experience, considering working as an RN in the US. What is the process I need to go through to get registered as an RN preferably in New York, California and Massachusetts. Could you also otherwise suggest any ideal state in terms of registration and job opportunities? Since I will be applying from overseas, do I need a Social security number in any of the states of America at the initial registration process? If any, what are the other documents that are required in order to register? Any suggestions will be highly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

@ ghorle boko ..thankq. I will be coming down on an E3 visa but at this stage, I want to start the registration process from Australia, prepare and sit for the NCLEX test in Australia. I basically would like to get all the process done in Australia before i depart for the US.

Don't have anything meaningful to add to this except for a suggestion to pick the 'best' state i.e. California. Great pay, truly amazing state (dare I say the "best")?
