I am in my early twenties but I am lazy like sh**. This should be the prime time of my life but I wonder why I am not living it.

This is me:
I do the mimimum to get by.
I wake up as late as I can.
I study as little as I can to just pass.
I go to work just for the money.
Hanging out with friends is a hassle.
I dont have a purpose.
I dont do what I have to do or
I wait until the last minute to do it.

What is wrong with me? I dont think I am depressed but why am I so lazy? Advices on how to improve my live will be greatly appreciated.

I am not sure what is wrong with you but you can surely stat by hitting the gym and eating right. Both of those release feel-good hormones called endorphins and that may motivate you to do other things as well. Don't expect the result to be instanteous though. You won't immediately turn 180 after your first workout and good meal. It'll take a little bit.

This is a daily  life of someone who is in their early twenties. And trust me it is your age not you. Not much to worry about it, because as time passes, most of them relaize the value of time and will find out the purpose of their life. However, you are already better than others here, because you realized the fact that you are not doing things that you are supposed to do.

You already figured out your way. Now all you have to do is just push yourself a litte bit more. To do so, start with just one small thing that you feel should be changed. When you do it few times you will get used to it.

"I do the mimimum to get by."

---Next time whatever it is (Work ,Assignment), tell yourself that this time "I will do something more than the minimum. Don't say you do the maximum. Just do more than the usual. If you think you had done enough to get by something, do few more....Not much; just a little bit more......After you done that, here you go...., you took your first step. Do the same thing again and again and again., and slowly you will be get used it and once you get used to something you even don't have to think about it...Just like when you used to driving, you don't have to think much how to control your sterling wheels. do you remember your first driving class? how was it? and what about now?

Only one thing for now, remember what i said, start with only one thing for now and once you get used to it, start another....You will be fine.

Brother Star15,

In addition to Doctor Bees and Rakshas's advice, also take some time to take long contemplative walks. Meditate. And read some self-help books.

The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale
The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren
The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Stepen Covey
Ma Ra Mero Kartabya by Khaptad Baba

Brother, no that we have all at one time or another gone through what you are going through. And we sometimes need to rely on other people's strength and inspiration to get ourself back on our feet. Best of luck to you,

Babal Khate

I've never understood people recommending books for everything. If one is motivated enough to read those books to get rid of his laziness, he's not that lazy after all, is he? :)

There is a possibility that you might be suffering from mild depression. It might not be your laziness but lack of motivation which is barring you from having a normal life.

As doctorbee has mentioned already, try to eat healthy and find a way that can motivate you to hit the gym. Endorphins are the natural cure for your "laziness". I would also suggest you to stay away from alcohol for time being as it works as a depressant.

Good luck.

I don't think reading books is going to hurt and it is not very hard to get motivated to read the BOOKS of own choice (not the textbooks). Self-help books can be helpful and inspiring; of course it depends on the people reading it. Once one can motivate enough to read the interesting books, then that habit will be helpful to discipline oneself to start reading the textbooks. Listening to autobiography can sometimes be helpful too. I may not have get motivated enough but that's my own weakness, but it has only helped rather than harm by reading either these self-help books or autobiographies. I have some recommendation for autobiographies I have listened (you can download in your phone and can listen whenever you're walking, buying groceries, waiting for bus and so on).

You are still alive and writing here in Sajha. Take this as your big achievement. I mean, lower the scale which triggeres your happiness. Feel great to yourself even when you wipe your ass after the shit.
