You can. Just need a proper mailing address in Nepal. Usually office addresses are the best. You can use either USPS, FEDEX or UPS. Check which services offer tracking.

I sent couple of documents to Nepal through USPS, used International Priority. I got to Nepal in about 7 business days which is about 10 days in total.

@sajhaguff: Facebook is RIGHT. Don't ever use USPS. I used USPS while sending some stuff in a big box inside U.S. When they delivered, they delivered in a smal box. When i called them, they said that they lost in their way and since i did buy insurance, i have to face the consequence.

Lesson learned: Never use USPS if it's really important and heavy. Use FedEx or UPS.

Peace

You can use USPS registered mail for passport about 13 dollars, that will be the safest way.

USPS is a bad choice. I send mine through Fedex. Little expensive but guaranteed. USPS sucks big time, I lost money order, and school documents a while ago. Took a very long time to get those money order back.

 Hi Frens,

I am talking about sending passport as opposed to the documents. I came to know that it is illegal to send passport tin/out of country in some country , for example india and pakistan. So, I was wondering if it is illegal to send it in nepal too or not.

Anyone has send the passport to Nepal before using the courier like fedex, dhl??? Please share the experience.

Please drop few lines if u have experience of sending the passport to nepal and sending back the passport to north america after stamping.

Regards,
SG

I absolutely agree with @Sajhafan,
USPS sucks big times..
I've sent some mail in the past.. it never got to the destination.
I just sent a mail just a few weeks ago, I made sure it gets to the destination and it seems like someone has not got my mail yet for that day. I went back to the USPS and it seems they lost it.
It happened to me when receiving package as big as printer toners which is like about 2 feet in width. I was so upset and I thought they lost it. It took frigging 4 days to get my package, it was not even a small envelope it was damn big printer toner with tracking number.
Their site said 'delivered' but I never got it. They didn't even tell me what the heck happened.
I will never ever use their service in my life.

@Sajhaguff, what's the drill if you're not with your passport?
They're not gonna pull off anything if you're not with your passport.
What's the deal anyway?
Sorry, never had to come across stuff like yours..
best of luck

@sajhaguff, mero bhanai ko matlab, passport bhaneko ta aafu sanga bokney kura ho ni, hoina ra??
Yedi tapai ley aafno passport uta nepal tira pathaunu bho bhaney, uni haru ley k nai garna sakla ra? Tapai ko passport ho, tapai ko 'signature' haru chahiyela, yeta ra uta kagaaz ma. Aba, tapai bhaney yeta, passport bhaney uta, yeso kura sochda k kaam hola jasto socheko. Aba, affidavit ko paper haru jasto bhako bhaye, uta pati ko manchey ley 'sign' garera pugney bho. Tara passport bhaneko ta jyadai important kuro ho ni, harayo bhaney ta saarai dukha po paaincha .

Please don't take it personal. Just wondering. But if you've to do it anyhow, don't do USPS.
They suck bigtime for sure.

Thanks Bitter truth for your explanation....I really appreciate it.

Actually I need to send my passport to canadian embassy in New Delhi for visa stamping. As the Indian rule doesn't let passport to be send in/out of the india so need to send it to Nepal and then send it to India through VFS.

I wasn't sure if we can courier the passport to Nepali address or not.

SG

It would have been better if you can go directly in Canadian embassy in US for visa stamping so that you don't have to worry about your passport.

I think we donot have canadian embassy in nepal so we need to send pp in India. But in US there is canadian embassy so you donot need to send it in . And I think its easier in US for canada visa stamping.

If you have to send passport to Nepal, donot use USPS. Use Fedex or UPS.

just my 2 cents thought!

@Karmayogi  Thank you !!!  for suggestion.

But the thing is I am in Canada. And visa stamping request is done by Canadian Embassy in New Delhi. I am not sure if I can send/go to Canadian Embassy in US instead of Canadian Embasssy in New Delhi.

Is there any laws in Nepal like in India that the passport can't be send in/out of country by courier? Anyone knows? Anyone had an experience of sending the passport to Nepal using the courier like Fedex and DHL in the past?

Regards,
SG

Sajaguff, you better contact canadian consulate instead of looking for answers here. Either call them or email them of your situation and they will answer all your queries.

I did send some very important documents through USPS to Nepal. There are certain services that USPS takes and transfers to FEDEX and DHL.
In fact i used this service twice, once on 2006 (used to cost only $17-20) and next on 2009 (cost around $40.00+)
Use "International Express Mail" they will deliver within 3-5 days. Normally it is initiated by USPS here and will be handled by FEDEX or DHL in Nepal. They will call to receipient in Nepal and ask to come with ID for PickUp.
Cost something around $40.00 depending upon the weight and size.
