I just moved from my old rented house in Dallas, they charge me
$200 for flooding (it didn't even rain in dallas last year)
$300 for paint (there was not even a scratch on the wall)
$200 for airfilter and house cleaning (I had professional carpet cleaner and also have receipt from them). Air filter charge is ok, actually how much those airfilter cost.
They took it out from deposit. It is so ridiculous.
Is there anyway to report this type of unethical behavior. If yes, where? Company leasing house is "Oneprop dallas". Today I even find out that there are lots of people warning against this company. But too late. I guess.
Kasto Moooojee raicha.

I believe small claims court might be the answer.
Talk to you the leasing office first and tell them you might take the matter to the court.

As kiddo suggested, talk to the office first.
Here are some tips:
- Don't go in there all mad and angry and trying to intimidate them. They have the better lawyers. Play cool and put forth your case.
- Bring your evidence with you, along with the copy of the lease that you signed when moving in, and show what was required of you upon moving and what you actually did.
- Ask them to explain their charges and show you some evidence of why they felt their action was justified.
- If you have pictures of the apt before you moved out, that would be really great. For the future, anytime you move out, always take pictures from your cellphone on your last day. It takes 2 mins and saves you headache.
- You want to avoid legal proceedings because your stake $600 is relatively low compared to what you could potentially end up paying (if you lose) - lawyer fees + court fees + $600.
Gluck!

That's ridiculous indeed , Air filter can be found below 10$ also ,It absolutely seems they want to ripp you off,,I think you can show them any receipt you have that you spent money for that place ,Tell them you didn't knew or you didn't find in that lease you signed that they were going to charge all these ??, Main thing is tell them frankly you can't loose that much amount as you are student and that you don't have job at the moment or so, you were depending on that amount you were going to get back , try to tell them you can't loose more than 100 or 150 and try to bargain. And Yes always try to find before hand when you move to any new place and you can even put your points in writing when signing the lease ,how much they are going to charge for cleaning ,paint and so on ,and yes taking PICTURES is also important ,always take picture of the place ,windows bathroom paints floor ceilings so that you can have that as your proof later on if they try to say you did this and that , don't believe anything what they say ,these people are one of the worst liar i've seen also .Be careful bro.

Hi SajhaFan,
I am surprised to see your charge. I hope you would figure out soon. I am not sure how much they would charge for us when we will be moving. My roomates when they got drunked, one of them vomited on the carpet N another roomate used bleach over it.. the carpet is faded with big white strips. another roomate got drunked one day and broke the wooden wall and there is a big hole in it... We r planning to move 2 months after, i guess we all r F***ed up... lol...

One thing you can do is ask them for receipts of the charges. It happened to me once also. I simply asked them to show me all the receipts and I need copies of them. The copies will help you if you need to take them to court. If they fake them, they are in trouble.

Guys thankx a lot for your valuable suggestions. They told me that their main office is located in Austin, and they do not handle deposit from Dallas office. So only way I can deal with them now is through emails. I wrote them everything and scanned the receipt. I mean I am leasing house for last 10 years and never had to deal with this type of frauds. More than money, I feel violated. You know like somebody rips you off, and you can do nothing about it.
The most funny part is last year it didn't rain that much in Dallas. And I live far away from any water source. And they charge me for flooding. Instead I was hoping that they will charge me for the dead plants due to drought.
Anyway thanx guys for your advice.
@truenepalidude: I really like your idea. This way I can see where do they get those expensive air filters from.
