no offense but that's the characteristic of lo-tech hi-priced iphone.
You will call iphone support and just be prepared to cough up $100-200.
An honest suggestion: Get samsung galaxy note.. before making a rough comment back, at least throw a search on what this beast called "galaxy note" is on Youtube.

What's my wifii? I don't have internet connection at home (temporarily) so I'm relying on "Personal Hotspot" from my iPhone4s....
Bitter, how do I check if my Ip's changing or not?

Be careful while using teethering from your phone because its agains the contract in ATT. So if they find out which they eventually willl, they will push you toward tiered data plan if you have unlimited data ... and if you have limited too you will have to pay hefty 30$ fee for using hotspot..so be careful....and my suggestion dont use it..

rids,
iPhone 4s tethering is a bit on the slow side I feel. Make sure you got the 4g symbol on (on the top of the screen next to the connection bars), and not 3g. If you can't see 4g or 3g then turn off wifi as you might have that on and connected in which case it will show the wifi symbol there instead. Also goto appstore and search for 'speedtest' and download the speedtest.net app.
This app will let you measure your data speed. So wherever you plan to use Personal Hotspot, first run the speedtest. This will give you an idea of how good/bad your data connection is. If it's bad, then your shared internet will also be slow.
Whether its normal for your connection to drop off every now and then relies on a lot of things, maybe SL can help out with something here ;)
I'd say try the speedtest thing. It might be your data coverage in your area is low/congested or you're far from the towers.

I switched from Xfinity to Uverse, which is why AT and T are being so generous to 'upgrade' my data plan from 2 GB to 5 GB upon my request so that I could browse the internet while I wait for them to come and install the internet and cable on Thursday.

And for some reasons unknown to mankind, the internet seems to be working perfectly fine at this moment.

Just saw ur comment, Caco and ran the tests... Download speed was 3.01 mbps while the upload speed was 0.93 mbps. And yeah, I do see a 4g logo on the top-left corner of my screen....

@riddle
Okay.....I was like how come greedy bastards like ATT would be generous enough to bump the data plan from 2gb to 5gb.

haha. I've been a "valued subscriber" for 5 years so it doesn't really surprise me that they were generous enough. I got quite a good deal on my internet-tv combo, too. 6 months of free HBO (I was paying 20 bucks for HBO) to go with $200 in debit card..... can't really complain...
