Hi friends, I'm going through a stage which I guess all of us go through at least once. I'm having a little trouble deciding my major. I came to the US with Criminal Justice as my major then I changed it to Computer Engineering because i thought it was more interesting. Then I realized it was too tough for me and changed it to Computer Information Systems. Now I hear everyone saying the pay is not too much and there are not much jobs and stuff like that. Im so confused about what to do. My cousin tells me to do Biomedical Engineering because the job growth is very high. Im an average student but I think I can do better and I would like it to be not so hard to get a job and the pay to be nice too. What major would you recommend if I was your brother? Please suggest!
Thank you!

Go with the major that you most enjoy.
If you don't know what you enjoy yet, go with the one that you think you can do better at.
And stop listening to people who haven't worked in the related field themselves.

you are damn right you are going through that stage which each and every one of us here have gone through or have been going through however, what you also have to know is, after you get past this stage you will hit the stage where you realize its not me or kiddo bro or even riddle bro who can tell you what to go for as far as your study is concerned ! keep hanging in there!

If I were you, I would talk with your guidance counselor and international student advisor about your dilemma.
Keep in mind that STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) majors qualify for 27 months of OPT. Others get only 3 months. I think.

I think IT is not bad . The economy is going down , and it is boon for the IT people ( to work as contractor). And it is not that hard to find the job , if you have at least done all your homeworks by yourself during your 4/2 year degree.
If you go back to Nepal, you can still live your descent life with this major. But for sure, you need to keep yourself updated with the new technology all the time. So basically you would be learning new things all the time.
If you are intereseted in IS, find university that includes this major in STEM extension program. Not all university does that. Most of them consider IS as business field, but few of them includes it in science.
Pay is not good and job market is not good is total bullshit. If you work 2-3 years and keep yourself updated with the new technolgoy, you would be earning in six figures.
If you are looking for job market only and not interested in programming or related field, I think medical related like medical assistant course is very good, All of my firends who graduated in this field got job within 2-3 months, and all of them are in H1.
I am not sure about the pay though.
Any thought on pussy reading (Gyanecologist)? :D

@ Ralil45, Sorry couldn't reply you on time.
I don't think it is difficult to find a internship nor even a job in CIS. All of my seniors are in H1 and they got their jobs within 3 months of their OPT start date. So, it depends how you take. Infact Nothing is easy and you need to work your ass off to acheive your goal. So, don't listen to people from other fields rather listen from us who are Majoring in CIS. Lastly do what you enjoy rather than the job prospectus. Furthermore, you can make 6 figures income in 1-3 years after you major in CIS. I am focusing on Database and hopefully will be a SQL server DBA within a year.

@default061,
The university of my choice does have this program under STEM extension. I'm also thrilled that I'd be learning new stuff all the time if I go for this major. I'm considering job prospects but I'm also very interested in this major at the same time. It scares me a little bit when you say job market is total bullshit but I hope things turn out to be good. I'm not that much inclined towards medical fiels..so yeah I wont be considering Gynaecology either. But anyways thanks for your input man. :)

@nepalibhandu,
its allright brother. I'm hope what you are saying turns out to be the truth in my case too. Infact, in both of us and everyone going for this major's case. Yeah man some people say anything even when they do not know much so I'd rather listen to someone related to this field like yourself. Good luck to all of us.

Who was that gay who didn't like that pussy in the last line of my post above ?
I am just encouraging u to flag this post too :D
@Rali,
If you did not like the pussy idea above, thats alright. But other than that one suggestion, rest of all is very important and cirtical to decide whether to leave the IT field or not. If you have specific questions on job market or salary in IT field, you can inbox me.
There are few people I knew them in sajha shout box who are in IT field too,way senior than me (experience wise). but I am sure they are not coming here to give you input. Because those gentlemen know all the shits in the thread ends up fighting and cursing. If u get time, try shout box, if those guyz are still there visiting the shoutbox, they may give u some idea too.
@Nepali Bandhu
Do watever you enjoy is I think a dialogue/philosophy that is to tell somebody you really hate, so that they get lost in the field which doesnot have any scope . There are something that starts with R and ends with "esponsibilty " and also another thing that starts with P and ends with"racital" , in both cases there is nothing in between. To live normally , you may have to compromise your interest with the scope of the subject. You will know what I mean once you enter the job market and learns to compromise your critical component for other ( like performance, complexity , memory etc) . Otherwise I would be running after pussy all day and night , instead of working with the same jackasses for months and months. (you will know abt this too )
